Rock Steady Boxing was created to improve quality of life for those diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. We have opened our classes for those diagnosed with movement disorders, as well.
Please call (480) 926-3887 if this will be your first class. We prefer to visit with you before you actually start class so that we can get to know you and your needs, plus show you the gym and answer your questions.
The current cost for classes held in the gym:
$20.00 per individual class
$150 per month
If you choose the individual class cost, once you attend more than 5 classes in a month, we will simply charge you at the monthly rate.
This is a full 75-minute class, divided into four sections that include vocal exercises, stretching, rhythmic movement, interval training, boxing with speed bags, double-ended bags and heavy bags, and ends with cool down/core exercises. If you have problems with any exercises or movements, please talk to the Coaches who can show you modified movements or exercises you can do comfortably.
Please wear comfortable, breathable exercise clothes that allow you to move freely. Most of our members wear sweatpants or yoga/athletic pants and T-shirts. Gym shoes are preferred (no hard-soled shoes, such as loafers or boots).
For hygienic reasons, we recommend that you purchase your own gel gloves, boxing gloves and exercise mat. We do have a limited supply of "community" gloves and mats for temporary use. Being located in Mesa, Arizona, it is especially important that you stay hydrated, so we recommend you bring your own water bottle (the ones that include a straw are best). If you forget your water bottle or do not have one, we also provide cold bottled water in the office area refrigerator.
First, be aware that there are many different levels represented in each class and that this is not a competition! Second, it is important that if, at any time, you feel uncomfortable, out of balance or become frustrated at not being able to perform at the level of the people around you, talk to a Coach. He/she can offer modifications and suggestions on alternative training methods to help you focus on specific symptoms or challenges you are facing. Do not do any exercises that make you physically uncomfortable or cause pain - talk to the Coach for help in modifying any exercise. Rock Steady Boxing Mesa offers an encouraging, non-judgmental environment that will allow you to share your specific concerns when necessary.
